CSP Starts out Fast at the RCA Open Air Classic

The first meet of the 2021-2022 Short Course Season was held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the RCA Open Air Classic.  Many swimmers from Senior, Senior II and Elite were in attendance and did a great job of competing.  Lee Naber started out by setting a new Team Record in the 17 – 18 50 Back, and the later in the meet, bettered that time and tied his Open 50 Back Record as well.

Lee went on to win the High Point for the 15 & Over Boys, while Cameron McCrary was 2nd and Niko Theodos was 3rd.  In the 15 & Over Girls, Anna Moehn was 1st, Nora Lee Brown and Alyssa Dennis was 3rdBrody Blatt was 2nd with the 13 – 14 Boys, while Avery Cunneen was 2nd with the 13 – 14 Girls and Ashlyn Canale was 3rdKeegan Brown was 3rd for the 11 – 12 Boys, while Ema Stojicevic won for the Girls, with Mia Panic 2nd and Claire Chumley was 3rd.

Winning individual events were Brody, Keegan, Nora Lee, Ashlyn, Claire, Avery, Colin Cunneen, Daniel Garza, Sophie Henriksen, Jacqueline Hu, Cameron, Anna, Lee, Mia, Juliette Phillips, Brooke Punnewaert, Ema, Lucas Theodos, Jaden Yarbrough and Graham Zucker.

Placing in the Top 8 were Reese Anderson, Ella Arbeiter, MJ Bezzant, Laura Bonds, Jaxon Bradburn, Charlotte Brown, Shelby Bushong, Kathryn Chaves, Ben Chumley, Carsyn Cosman, Kaitlyn Cragg, Trey Cunneen, Alyssa, Wills Dino, Sam Ellenhorn, Luke Gill, Olivia Hanes, Sylvia Hanes, Wenxu He, Emma Kaemmerer, Caitlin Kuhlmann, Erin Lamping, Samantha Lee, Lucy Maxey, Maitland Michaelson, Campbell Murawski, Curtis Murawski, Lindsay Naber, Kate Punnewaert, Hannah Renaud, Leah Renner, Norah Rutkowski, Graham Sagel, Madelyn Schoedel, Xander Theodos, Austin Theodos, Camden Theodos, Niko Theodos, Ella Welch, Emma Welch and Hunter Wilson.

Finishing in the Top 16 were Margaret Beimdiek, Karson Bluette, Nora Cooke, Noemi Crall, Ryan DeMargel, Cate Fear, Jessa Lee, Will Plassmeyer, Nina Schuerer, Alex Snyder, Lily Ta and Meg Willmann.

Also swimming in the meet were Sonia Archambault, Amelia Dino and Amalie Gierasch.

With Relays, CSP fielded more relays than any other team and the swimmers did a great job!

In the Girls 200 Free Relays, Madelyn, Anna, Sophie and Campbell were 1st, Kathryn, Avery, Norah and MJ were 2nd and Juliette, Carsyn, Alyssa and Nora Lee were 3rd.  CSP also had girls’ relays place 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th!

In the Boys 200 Free Relays, Lee, Graham, Jax and Cameron won, while Daniel, Xander, Trey and Hunter were 2nd and the Boys also had relays place 4th, 8th and 9th.

In the Girls 200 Medley Relays, Avery, Nora Lee, Anna and Juliette won, while Sophie, Brooke, Alyssa and Carsyn were 2nd and then we tied for 3rd with Caitlin, Jacqueline, Norah and Kathryn on one relay and Kate, Charlotte, Ashlyn and Emma on the other. The Girls also placed 6th, 9th, 11th and 12th.

The Boys 200 Medley Relay won with Lee, Daniel, Cameron and Niko, while Graham, Xander, Jax and Trey were 2nd, Ben, Sam, Graham and Jaden were 3rd and the last boys relay placed 5th.
